It is a common fact that we should drink about 8 glasses of water on a daily basis.
Apart from the dehydration as a direct consequence of the insufficient amounts of water, not many people know what actually that causes in our body.
Here is what happens when we drink less water than needed:
- Poor concentration
A research at the Psychiatric Institute on the King College in London from 2011 revealed that the reduced intake of water affects many grey cells that we must use in performing a task. The thirsty participants had to try to resolve a given exercise, in contract to those who drank enough water.
- We burn calories slowly
An independent survey by Dr. Howard Murad, published in his book ”The Water Secret” in 2010, showed a correlation between the speed of the metabolism and the amount of water consumed. Calories, of course, were burnt faster by more hydrated organisms. The doctor also discovered that water smoothens skin, avoids the appearance of wrinkles and reduces the paleness of facial skin.
- We eat more
People who drink 2 glasses of water before mels enter 75 to 90 calories less than those who do not drink water. These were the results of researchers from the American Institute Public Health and Water Research, after a study on adult participants in 2010.Those who drank water even lost about 6 pounds during the three- month research.
- We are in a bad mood
Researchers on the American University Tufts asked oarsmen and women to exercise aerobic for an hour with drinking only small amounts of water during the training. The group that drank small amounts of water felt classic symptoms of dehydration as fatigue and slight faintness, and researchers also noticed feelings of anger, depression and tension.
- We are susceptible to diseases
The dehydration of the body reduces the functionality of some organs, but of the entire organism as well, so it is not strange that we link the lack of water with some illnesses. People who drink less water, for instance, more often develop problems with urinary channels and kidneys than people who drink adequate amounts of water.
