Why does sage help in the elimination of a cough?

Folk medicine recommends that you mix sage with milk for better alleviation of a cough.
In a small bowl pour 250ml of milk, add 1 tablespoon of dried sage and heat until it boils.
Once the milk boils, move it to the side. Add 1 teaspoon of butter to this drink. Cover and let it stand for 15 minutes.
Then strain the liquid, add 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder (½ teaspoon for children) and mix.
