Cleaning the toilet is the least amusing household ‘activity,’ but someone has to do it. The tight area under the rim is probably the nastiest place to reach, since pretty gross things come out of there.
The only thing that is worse than cleaning the it is using a germ-infested toilet. So, yes, you have to do it quite often. We have good some good news for you and they come in the form of homemade toilet cleaner that will vanish all the grime and odors.
- 160g baking soda
- 60ml lemon juice
- 1/2 tbsp vinegar
- 1 tbsp 3% hydrogen peroxide (you can find it in pharmacies)
- 15-20 drops fragrant oil
Put both the lemon juice and baking soda in a larger container. Combine hydrogen peroxide and vinegar in another container. Slowly drizzle the resulting liquid in the baking soda mixture. Add any fragrant oil of your choice.
Separate the mixture in smaller shapes, and you can use a spoon to get equal half-ball shapes. Lay them on a baking paper to try. Make a solution of vinegar, and use equal parts of vinegar and water. Pour it in the toilet bowl to stick the tabs together, because you can notice how a hard crust has formed around them.
Toilet tabs dry within 4 hours, or even better, overnight. Keep them in an air-tight jar, and store it in your bathroom. Be careful, you need to do this once the tabs have dried completely.
Pop a tab in your toilet whenever you are not happy with its smell.
The preparation of these tabs may take you some time from start to finish, but the effect will sure amaze you, plus it uses super cheap and easily available ingredients. Unlike conventional toilet cleaning products, these toilet tabs do not harm the environment, nor the water. If you are creative and have some extra time, shape the tabs in praline or soap molds. Keep in mind that if you decide to make your toilet tabs fancy shaped, use the molds only for this purpose.
