Tissue level hypothyroidism

But, if you compare the symptoms of fibromyalgia and hypothyroidism, you will notice something quite interesting:

Luckily, Dr Lowe, a world known researcher, brought everything together perfectly.

He says that tissue level hypothyroidism is one of the leading causes of fibromyalgia. He managed to explain this through his concept of ‘deductively formulated theory.’

This method examines every potential theory that causes a disease, and determines the hypothesis that is most adequate with the help of a specific mathematical analysis. This is pretty much the same logic Albert Einstein used to determine his hypotheses, including the theory of relativity.

He also added that most of the patient who belong in this category required their own form of T3 therapy to obtain a proper resolution of their symptoms.

According to his results, about 2/3 of the patients did better on Natural Dessicated Thyroid Hormone, such as medication like Armour  thyroid, Westhroid and Naturethroid. About a third of the patients required increased doses of T3 only therapy, including Liothyronine or sustained release T3.

About a third of the patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia could not improve on NDT and needed a T3 therapy.

The doctor revealed that fibromyalgia induced pain can be relieved only when patients received high doses of thyroid hormone. The doses were determined in accordance with the features of each individual.

How to determine whether you have a tissue level hypothyroidism?

Blood tests of thyroid hormone do not provide 100% accurate results. Experts suggest that it s best to combine serum markers, Physical exam findings and subjective symptoms, as it will provide an accurate diagnosis of tissue level hypothyroidism.

Here are the most common symptoms of tissue level hypothyroidism:

  1. Fatigue

Thyroid hormone participates in the secretion of dopamine. Having poor thyroid levels means that you have poor dopamine levels as well, which eventually leads to chronic fatigue.

Thyroid hormone enhances body’s ability to transform tyrosine to dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine. These hormones are also known as the ‘adrenaline’ which supports the metabolism in our bodies and takes part in the ‘fight or fight’ response.

  1. Weight gain

Thyroid hormone increases the power of lipolytic enzymes, or the enzymes that break down fat, and thus stimulates the body to burn fat. Low thyroid hormone levels affect the effectiveness of these enzymes, meaning that it is practically impossible to lose weight.

Low thyroid levels are linked to high cholesterol, and a slower metabolism.

  1. Hair loss

You all know this one. Thyroid hormones regulate hair growth and healthy pigmentation.

Insufficient levels of thyroid hormones affect the growing process of new hair, but it also hinders the absorption of nutrients that participate in hair growth, such as zing. This is actually a vicious cycle of hair loss. So unappealing, right?

Poor thyroid hormone level causes hair loss, and also triggers deficiency in nutrients that your hair needs to grow well. Pretty similar to a double fraud.

  1. Muscle tension and trigger points

Muscles relax only when the body produces ATP successfully. If by any chance you did not know it, ATP stands for the energy currency in human body.

Thyroid hormone is held as responsible for the production of this energy, so whenever your thyroid hormone runs low, you experience poor energy flow. Being unable to relax the muscles leads to the formation of trigger points and muscle tension or ache.

  1. Hindered relaxation of deep tendon reflexes

Physical exam findings are known as one of the most accurate markers for tissue level hypothyroidism.

Low tissue levels of thyroid make the muscles unable to relax quickly, which leads to delayed relaxation of deep tendon reflexes. These tendon reflexes describe the condition in which your doctor uses his reflex hammer to hit your knee for any reflexes.

If you are dealing with any of the aforementioned symptoms, chronic pain or if you have fibromyalgia = you are likely to have tissue level hypothyroidism.

How to treat tissue level hypothyroidism?

Dr Lowe came up with a treatment which helped him treat the symptoms in patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia and chronic pain.

If you consider a few other healthy aspects in addition to this approach, you will be able to treat both chronic pain and fibromyalgia:

  1. Get the proper dose and type of medication that regulates thyroid function. If you are dealing with chronic pain you will probably need any form of T3 therapy, preferably NDT and liothyronine.
  2. Exercising to maximum intensity, or commonly referred to as exercising to tolerance. For some this may be a simple jogging to the nearest shop for 10 seconds. Set your body under a physical challenge to change your genes and reach a hormonal balance.
  3. Whole food diet – Cut off processed products, and eat more fruits and vegetables, or the ‘real food’ as some like to call it. You do not need items with food labels or products that contain more than 1 ingredient. Look for some healthy thyroid reset diet regimen and work out a Hashimoto’s disease diet plan.
  4. Trigger point therapy – You can perform this through a massage or with the help of trigger point injections. You must take care of these points, otherwise you will experience deep pain and spasms.
  5. Proper care of nutritional deficiencies – This involves great amounts of B vitamins, zinc and iron. Keep in mind that deficiencies may vary, so consider doing some tests.

Extra tip: Keep in mind that laboratory tests are not the most accurate way to diagnose tissue level hypothyroidism. Proper diagnosis and therapies require a thorough combination of laboratory tests, subjective symptoms, basal body temperature and metabolic functions.
