When one thinks about frozen fruits, the last thing that comes to one’s mind is the lemon as a variant. However, we investigated the issue a little further since a mum revealed she was freezing lemons regularly.
For a first time, the discovery of a new study showed how limonoids, which are natural compounds present in lemons and other citrus fruit, impede both ER+ and ER- breast cancer cell growth. This result supports previous studies which showed that fruit consumption may lower breast cancer risk, and thus sheds new light on the importance of citrus fruit for breast cancer prevention.
