Study: Manuka Honey Kills More Bacteria Than All Available Antibiotics

A few years ago, a scientist from Australia gave the world an amazing discovery.

He discovered a type of dark honey which later proved to be beneficial in destroying every virus ever known. It has the ability to kill even the most dangerous bacteria and cure every disease.

Back in June 2009, the European Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Disease published a study which showed that the honey was even more effective that the conventional antibiotics that can’t do anything in regards with the resistant ‘superbugs’.

So this miraculous honey is known as manuka honey or also jelly bush honey.

The popularity of this honey has increased so much that it caused a production of fake manuka honey found in many markets. So, the original producers of manuka from New Zealand required a trademark protection, something like the Scottish whiskey and French champagne.

Today, the majority of people are familiar with the health benefits of this honey. The experts claim that manuka honey is nothing less but a nature miracle.

Manuka honey destroys MRSA and other superbugs

Manuka honey is made from bees that ‘process the nectar of the New Zealand manuka bush known as Leptospermum Scoparium. These trees are only found in New Zealand and Australia. A study proved that manuka honey has the ability to destroy every bacteria and pathogen. The Australian published a study which showed that the topical application of manuka honey can relieve insect bites, cuts, and skin infections. This honey can be used orally as well.

Manuka honey has a darker shade than regular honey

According to a study, no bug can develop immunity against the honey, which is a common problem with the conventional antibiotics.

Dr. Dee Carter of the University of Sydney’s School of Molecular and Microbial Biosciences says:

“New antibiotics have short shelf lives due to the fact that the bacteria they attack quickly become resistant. A number of pharmaceutical companies have stopped with the antibiotic production because of the difficulty of recovering costs. Creating effective options could, therefore, save a lot of lives.”

Dr. Carter added that manuka honey contains methylglyoxal which can bind with several unknown compounds and cause a ‘multi-system failure’, thus killing the bacteria.

Where can you buy original manuka honey?

Always make sure to buy products that are UMF certified since the production of manuka honey is on the rise. You can buy manuka honey in healthy food stores or online, but make sure that the source is trusted.

‘UMF’ stands for ‘Unique Manuka Factor.’ This product has powerful phytochemical properties because manuka bushes are the only source of these unique properties. Some certified manuka products can be found on

Comvita manuka honey is an UMF certified brand. Here is what one customer known as JoshuaOne9 said on Amazon about how manuka honey helped him fight MRSA:

“When a friend of our got MRSA, I had done a fair amount of research, but then, unfortunately, I got MRSA too. Thanks to the research, I knew exactly what to do. The first time I saw the red bump thinking that it was a mosquito bite, I scratched it, but the second day I realized that it was not a mosquito bite. My husband knew what it was because as I said before we had been dealing with the MRSA case of our friend. I applied Manuka honey on the affected area and covered it with a bandage. Just after a few hours, I felt relief and within a few days it was completely gone…”

Even though further research needs to be done, we can certainly say that manuka honey can provide great benefits against the worst health issues that people experience in the 21st century.
