How to grow your own sprouts

Growing your own sprouts can be a cheap and effective way to strengthen your immune system. Just follow the instructions below!

Needed Ingredients:

  • A jar, 1 quart to 1 gallon in size
  • A bowl
  • Cheesecloth or netting
  • A large rubber band
  • Water
  • Seeds


Place your seeds in a jar. Add 1 cup of water for every tablespoon of seeds. Cabbage, kale, broccoli, and radish seeds should soak for 3 hours while the small seeds should soak between two and six hours. Larger seeds like lentils, grains, and peas should soak for 12 hours. After soaking the seeds in the jar, you should place the cheesecloth over the top of the jar. Make sure to secure with a rubber band. Leave the seeds to soak then you should rinse and drain. It is recommended to rinse and drain two or three times a day.

After one or two weeks, the seeds should have sprouted. In order to separate the hulls, you should swirl the sprouts in a bowl of cold water. Rinse and drain then store them in your fridge.
