Oregano Tea Recipe to Heal Strep Throat, Sinusitis, and Infections
For centuries, many people around the world have been used oregano tea as a natural remedy for treating many health issues. Oregano is a great source of apigenin-7-O-glucoside, luteolin-7-O-glucoside, eriocitrin, quercetin, luteolin, and apigenin. Also, it contains phytonutrients including phytonutrients thymol and rosmarinic acid known for their strong antioxidant properties, which can prevent oxygen-based damages to cells in the entire body.
According to many recent studies, oregano has a stronger antioxidant impact in the body in comparison to BHA (butylated hydroxyanisole) and BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene), synthetic antioxidants that are commonly added to processed foods. Furthermore, the International Food Journal of Sciences and Nutrition published a study in 2007 which showed that LDL (bad cholesterol) levels can be significantly reduced by a regular consumption of oregano tea.
A number of studies found out that oregano has powerful cancer-fighting properties because it contains phytochemical Quercetin, known to have the ability to kill cancer cells.
The Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology published a study in 2008 which showed that oregano extract improved cancer symptoms in laboratory animals who suffered from colon cancer. It is considered that this is due to the strong antioxidant properties of oregano. However, further clinical studies need to be done so this can be completely confirmed.
