Scientists claim that those who almost every day consume hot foods have a lower risk of premature death. It was found that those people who like spicy food have a lower rate of death and cancer.
It is assumed that it is due to capsaicin located in chili peppers, which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect.
The research was done by the journal British Medical Journal on 487,000 people aged from 30 to 79 years. It discovered that the mortality rate of those who eat hot foods, especially spicy ones, is about 14% smaller than in others.
“Our analysis shows that there is a link between the consumption of spicy foods and length of life, ie, mortality is reduced in the cases of individuals who consume hot foods.”
However, the question remains whether this result was obtained due to the routine of eating spicy foods, or to other eating habits as well.
