You need more healthy fats and oils

Nutritionists say that extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil. For instance, spread some coconut oil instead of butter on you toast. Medium-chain triglycerides in coconut oil make this oil one of the greatest oils you need. It bears high temperatures well, so you should use it in your cooking.

This is because it does not convert into trans fats when exposed to heat. Do not eat margarine, and carefully read the labels of the products you are buying. Never buy products that contain vegetable oil or soybean oil.

Make your own salad dressings. Store-bought products often contain soybean oil and polyunsaturated fat. Use a few lemon slices and olive oil as your basic ingredients. Do not eat restaurant fried foods, because the oils are reheated for so many times. You will not eat something like that, right? These oils are ‘intoxicated’ with trans fats. Make your healthy meals whenever possible. In this way you can control the ingredients you eat.

Add 2-3 tablespoons of extra virgin coconut oil in your diet to enhance your thyroid function, boost your energy and melt extra pounds. It is super tasty and you can combine it with every food, ranging from sautéed veggies to eggs and roasted delicacies.

Make sure you take a tablespoon or two of coconut oil every day. You can also use it in your smoothies. Find the recipe that works for you and enjoy your healthy smoothie.

Vitamin and mineral supplements are good for you

Vitamins A, B, C, and E, zinc and selenium are essential for your thyroid health.

‘Thyroid Health: Do You Have Hypothyroidism?,’ a paper by Margaret Ames, Ph.D., suggests that patients with hypothyroidism cannot convert beta-carotene to vitamin A, so make sure you take vitamin A supplements. Margaret also explains that selenium participates in the conversion of T4 into T3. Poor selenium levels result in low T3 levels. Those who have been exposed to mercury in any form should consider heavy metal detoxification therapy, because mercury displaces selenium.

Juicing does miracles

Vegetable juicing can help you restore your thyroid function and bring your health to an optimal level. Radishes are great for you, since their sulfur compounds regulate thyroixine and calcitonin. Healthy amounts of this sulfur compound in your bloodstream stop the thyroid gland from overproducing these hormones. Try the miraculous thyroid tonic. It uses celery, radishes, lemon, carrots and cucumber. A dash of kelp powder or dulse will increase your iodine levels.

Stay away from refined grains, sugar, and substances that burden the thyroid

American diet consists of sweets, refined grains, sugar, caffeine, alcohol, hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils. This means that sodas, coffee, black tea, and chocolate are absolute favorites. Each of these affects your thyroid function and cause a chaos in the entire organism. Cut off refined grains like rolls, pancakes, pasta, buns, wheat bread, biscuits, and pizza dough. Peanut butter sandwich is especially bad for you, because of the refined grain bread and peanut butter, a known goitrogen.

Sugars like corn syrup, brown sugar, honey, molasses, fructose, and brown rice syrup are also bad for your overall health. Use stevia instead, because it is an excellent herbal sweetener. Do not exaggerate with your desserts. And your emotional stress is especially dangerous. Fear, anger, anxiety, guilt and grief are your worst enemies. Giving birth, industrial pollutants, pesticides, heavy metals, Candida Albicans and medical stress are other factors that tax the thyroid gland.

Excessive exposure to fluoride and mercury harms health

Stay away from mercury and fluoride whenever possible. Invest in a water filtration system to eliminate fluoride and other chemicals. It is sure worth it. And yes, use toothpastes that do not contain fluoride. When it comes to fish, choose halibut and salmon, because they do not contain much mercury.

Introduce healthy lifestyle changes

Do not eat foods that burden your thyroid gland or affect your nutrient absorption. Look for healthy suggestions and get your thyroid in order. You may need to change your habits and everyday rituals.

Goitrogens are your enemy

Some foods affect the absorption of iodine. These include pine nuts, soybeans, cabbage, turnips, peanuts, millet, mustard, cassava root, etc. Eliminate these foods from your menu until your thyroid works well again. Once you get it functioning well, you can eat these foods occasionally, but never on a daily basis. Soybean oil in salad dressings, peanut butter, and vegetable protein are the most harmful products. These are added in many conventional products. Keep in mind that Asians eat small amounts of soy, usually fermented varieties.

Eat more iodine-rich foods

These include sea food, sea vegetables, fish and eggs. You can also try dried sea vegetables. Find them in local grocery stores, healthy food stores and Asian markets.

Add kombu to your soups and bean dishes. Black seaweed work well in salads and soups. Replace salt with dulse or kelp powder. Eat more salmon sole, snapper, and halibut. You do not want to eat tuna and swordfish, because they contain more mercury. When it comes to eggs, opt for cage-free eggs from chickens that are not fed with hormone and antibiotics.

Exercising stimulate the secretion of your thyroid gland. It also increases the sensitivity of tissues to thyroid hormones. However, consider doing exercises that fit your energy levels. Walking and stretching are nice option for beginners. Weight-bearing exercises are recommended for those who try to prevent osteoporosis.

Step aerobics and fast walking increase heart rate and do miracles for the cardiovascular system. Every workout will help you stimulate your metabolism, and thus lose weight. Jumping on a rebounder is great for your vital organs and your lymphatic system. Even 15 minutes can improve your health a great deal.

Does it take too long for your thyroid to restore?

According to Margaret Ames, Ph.D.: “The beneficial effects of a comprehensive treatment of hypothyroidism are usually evident within two to three weeks after starting therapy. However, it is important to emphasize that, while symptoms may be alleviated and people with hypothyroidism may experience a greater sense of well-being, in most cases, treatment for this condition requires a life-long commitment.” Enjoy your new lifestyle. It is great to know that you have reduced the risk of degenerative diseases, right?
