Don’t Use Ginger If You Have Any of These Conditions!

As one of the most ancient spices worldwide, ginger is a popular natural remedy that has been used for treating different conditions and health problems.

It is known that ginger offers potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and can do wonders for your health. However, there are certain groups of people that should avoid ginger.

If you suffer from the following conditions, you should avoid ginger at all costs:

Blood Disorders

Ginger has the ability to improve the circulation of blood. This means that is extremely beneficial for treating obesity, diabetes, Raynaud’s disease, and peripheral artery disease.

However, it can be harmful to people with hemophilia or those with an inability of the blood to clot normally. In fact, ginger can neutralize the effects of the medications prescribed for treating this condition.

Certain Drugs

The use of ginger is not recommended for people that use drugs for diabetes or hypertension. Ginger may interfere with the effects of beta-blockers, insulin or anticoagulants. It can cause blood thinning and lower blood pressure, thus reducing the effects of the drugs.

Underweight

Ginger contains fiber that can boost the secretion of digestive enzymes and stomach pH levels. In this way, it suppresses appetite and aids weight loss. However, in underweight people, ginger can cause weight loss, menstrual irregularities, and poor muscle mass.

Pregnancy

As a natural stimulant, ginger supports the muscle health and helps digestion. However, during pregnancy, ginger may trigger premature contractions and labor. Also, it can disrupt the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins and dietary iron. Even though it relieves morning sickness, women during the last trimester of the pregnancy are not recommended to use ginger.

Ginger Alternatives

If you find yourself in any of these groups, don’t be desperate because you can use natural alternatives to ginger that are also extremely beneficial.

For instance, you can try cayenne pepper, sweet peppers, or red paprika. Add red paprika to your spicy meals and sweet peppers to your other meals.
