You all know what does avocado pudding taste like, but we bet that you have not tried this recipe!

Avocados are the base of this pudding, and their taste is enhanced by several other amazing ingredients. The fruit provides the ideal texture for a pudding, and its mild taste does not overpower other flavors in the dish. Avocados are high in good (monounsaturated) fat, which makes this pudding an awesome Paleo dessert that keeps you full and satisfied for a long time.

Avocados protect cellular mitochondria and prevent free radical damage and premature aging

Numerous studies involving the effect of antioxidant-rich foods on overall health failed to provide promising results, because most phytonutrients cannot penetrate the mitochondrial power factories based in each cells. Free radicals can freely damage the delicate mitochondria, stop the production of energy, which eventually kills the cells.

A group of researchers from the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) conducted a study in order to determine the way in which avocado oil is absorbed by the mitochondrial and neutralizes free radicals. Oxidation cannot affect avocado oil, and this oil has the power to neutralize the metabolic effect of iron, which is considered as a primary cause of cellular oxidation.

Dr. Christian Cortez-Rojo, the lead study design author, explained that:

“Avocado oil causes accelerated respiration in mitochondria, which indicates that the use of nutrients for producing energy for cell functions remains effective even in cells attacked by free radicals and that mitochondria can produce little amounts of damaging free radicals.”

Avocados restore hormonal balance

Beta-sitosterol, a type of plant sterol contained in avocados, provide strong antiestrogenic effect. Along with other sterols, beta-sitosterol blocks estrogen receptors in human cells and reduce the absorption of estrogen. This rises the level of progesterone in women and testosterone in men.

Most of you are unaware of the fact that both avocado flesh and oil provide powerful anti-aging properties. Scientists have revealed that avocados have strong anti-aging effect which helps in the fight against free radicals.

Health benefits

Avocados are an excellent source of healthy fat, and regardless of whether you admit it or not, most people do not get enough of this fat. Avocado fruit contains about 20 essential nutrients, including:

  • Fiber
  • Potassium
  • Vitamin E
  • B-vitamins
  • Folic acid
  • Magnesium
  • Sodium
  • Iron
  • Calcium

Moreover, avocados enhance the way your body absorbs fat-soluble nutrients from numerous fruits and veggies, such as lutein and alpha and beta-carotene.

Avocadene – a fatty alcohol

Avcadene is a fatty alcohol or triol contained in avocados with a molecular structure of 16-hepadecene-1,2,4-triol. This fatty alcohol is a powerful antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agent.
