Modern people cannot imagine their everyday life without cosmetics. Various detergents, cosmetics and beauty care products, men’s cosmetics … But are these products safe? Perhaps, but you should know that the following 12 toxic and carcinogenic components are regular companion of your beauty products.
Benzoyl Peroxide: It is used most often in products for acne. It is thought that it may cause cancer and mutations, and can lead to damage human DNA cells. It is toxic if inhaled. It irritates the eyes and skin and causes difficulties in breathing.
DEA (Diethanolamine), MEA (Monoethanolamine), TEA (Trietanolamine): These are substances whose role is to create foam. They exasperate the eyes and skin and cause dermatitis. They are easily absorbed through the skin and accumulated in the organs, including the brain.
Dioxin: It is located mostly in antibacterial substances that are added to cleaning products and detergents. Dioxin causes cancer, weakens the immune system, causing disorders of the nervous system and can lead to miscarriage or fetal deformities.
DMDM Hydantoin and Urea (Imidazolidinyl): These two preservatives release formaldehyde, which can cause joint pain, cancer, and other skin allergies, depression, headache, chest pain, ear infections, chronic fatigue, dizziness and insomnia.
CI dyes and pigments: These are synthetic dyes, which are obtained from the tar when processing of oil, and contain heavy metal salts which retain the toxins in the skin and cause higher sensitivity and irritability. Upon absorption into the skin, they can cause a lack of oxygen and lead to death. Studies show that almost all artificial dyes are carcinogenic.
Paraben: (Methyl, Butyl, Ethyl, Propyl-paraben): They are used as preservatives and are not always listed on the labels. They can be found in deodorants and other products for the skin. In numerous medical studies, these substances are found precisely in tumor cells of breast cancer. Paraben-s can lead to infertility in men, hormonal imbalance in women and premature puberty in children.
PEG (Polyethylene glycol): It is created during etoxylation of propylene. In this process, the final products are dangerously high amounts of dioxin. There is polyethylene glycol in all kinds of cosmetics, in all oils for sunbathing as well as in baby cosmetics.
Phthalates (Phthalates): They are present in many products and are not listed on the label. The damage they cause on the health is manifested by problems with the liver and kidneys, birth defects and reduced sperm quality. In some cases, they cause premature breast development in girls, and boys.
Propylene Glycol (PG) and Butylene Glycol: It can be found in lipsticks and lip balms. EPA (United States Agency for Environmental Protection) considers them to be so toxic that when working with them, they strictly recommend the usage of gloves, protective clothing and goggles. EPA also warns that a direct contact with them may cause serious damage to the brain, liver and kidneys.
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES): Used mainly in detergents for washing, in floor cleaners, means for cleaning hard fat, as well as in 90% of the cosmetic products that make foam. These sulfates cause eye problems, difficulties in breathing, diarrhea, skin irritation and in some cases, even death.
Chemical sunscreen filters: Avobenzone, benzphenone, ethoxycinnamate, PABA are common ingredients in lotions and oils we use on the beach. They are a source of free radicals. Scientists believe that they damage DNA and can lead to cancer.
Tridosan: Synthetic, antibacterial ingredient. EPA registers it as a pesticide, saying that it is a risk to human health and the environment. It is classified as chlorophenol (chlorophenol), a chemical that is considered one of the triggers of cancer.
